Respecting our Communities

We are proud to be a multicultural organisation that celebrates diversity and promotes respect across all our communities and neighbourhoods.

Respecting Our Communities

Respecting our communities

Across the communities  Alpha Living operates, we understand that many tenants and residents may wish to display patriotic flags in or outside their homes - especially during international sporting events, national celebrations and remembrance events. This is a valued part of community life, and we support expressions of pride and identity when they are respectful and inclusive.

However, we’ve recently seen an increase in the use of flags and messages in response to issues surrounding migration. Some of these displays have caused concern among residents and colleagues, with many expressing that they feel unwelcome, intimidated or even fearful.

We are proud to be part of a community known for its diversity, solidarity and community spirit; we have always been a place that has welcomed people from around the world.  As a housing provider committed to building inclusive, safe and welcoming communities, we stand firmly against racism, intolerance and hate.

We are proud to be a multicultural organisation that celebrates diversity and promotes respect across all our communities and neighbourhoods.

We trust our residents and colleagues to act responsibly and respectfully. When behaviour does not meet these standards and causes distress or concern, we encourage people to let us know. We will support tenants and colleagues throughout this process.
If we receive complaints about aggressive or offensive messages, including wording on flags, graffiti or vandalism, we will investigate and take appropriate action in line with tenancy agreements and colleague policies.

Together, we can ensure that homes and workplaces across Alpha Living neighbourhoods remain places where everyone feels safe, respected and supported.
