Ongoing Hot Weather Warnings
Hot Weather

With the ongoing hot weather warnings over the next few days, it's really important to stay as cool as possible.

There are a few ways you can do this:

  • By preventing dehydration and drinking cool fluids regularly throughout the day. The government suggests that water and diluted squash or lower fat milks are good choices.
  • By protecting yourself from the sun. Try to stay in the shade, wear lightweight, loose fitting, light-coloured clothes, wear a hat/sunglasses, and applying sunscreen generously.
  • Limit strenuous physical activity if you can during the hottest part of the day.
  • Avoid hot closed spaces
  • Keep your home cool. Close blinds and curtains on windows that are exposed to direct sunlight during the day. Move to a cooler part of your property, especially for sleeping. Open windows (if it is safe to) when the air feels cooler outside than inside. Use electric fans if the air temperature is below 35 degrees but do not aim the fan directly at your body as this can lead to dehydration.

Most developments at Alpha have communal lounges which have greater air flow and are likely to remain cooler. Please make use of these where you can.

If you have any repair issues which are impacting or contributing to high heat or lack of ventilation please do speak to your Development Manager or call us on 0330 460 9870.
