Following the successful delivery of our extra care development at Poppyfields, Alpha is developing a new extra care scheme at Driftwood Gardens as part of a significant regeneration scheme in Moreton, which is being delivered in partnership with Vistry - Merseyside & Cheshire West on land owned by the Wirral Growth Company.
Driftwood Gardens will comprise 80 extra care apartments, comprising 72 1-bedroom apartments and 8 2-bedroom apartments.
The development has been designed by architects Eden Design to HAPPI dementia friendly standards, with open plan living, spacious communal areas with facilities including assisted bathrooms and laundry, as well as a resource where residents can enjoy a hot drink and socialise together.
Driftwood Gardens features large south facing gardens, with access to outdoor spaces and bedrooms with Jack and Jill ensuite bathrooms.
The care and support will be commissioned by Wirral Council and all allocations will be via the council to ensure the maximum benefit is delivered for the people of Moreton and wider surrounding areas.
The development will cost around £18.5m, with around £7.5m combined grant funding from Homes England and LCRCA . It is currently expected that Driftwood Gardens will be handed over to Alpha in August 2027.
A ground breaking ceremony was held on 10 July 2026 to celebrate the construction of the steel frame for the development.
