Alpha is driven by a passion to make a positive difference to the lives of older people and we say that we aim to shape services around people by getting to know them. But how well do we really know our residents?
We believe that current and future generations of older people have a very different outlook on life, often far younger than their years. To remain relevant over the coming years Alpha must be able to respond to a greater range of demands, creating more flexibility around the services we provide.
That is why we are starting out on our Big Conversation, reaching out to residents and inviting them to tell us about the things that matter to them as they get older.
We have asked two experienced consultants, Steve Wood and Sadia Akram, to help us begin a conversation with residents during March and April. They will be assisted by our own Daren Hughes and Sue Hewitt.
We are particularly interested in hearing about people’s attitudes to old age; about how people stay in touch with friends and relatives and how people feel about keeping active and staying healthy.
