    Chief Executive

    GRAEME FOSTER

    Our chief executive since 2014, Graeme has worked in a variety of senior and leadership positions including senior regulator with the Regulator of Social Housing and Lead Housing Inspector with the Audit Commission.

    He has already overseen many changes including securing new private funding, grant funding and moving Alpha to a position where it is able to grow.

    Graeme’s career has taken in housing management, resident involvement, governance and research. He has an MBA and is a member of the Chartered Institute of Housing. Graeme is passionate about the difference Alpha’s approach can make to the lives of older people. When he is not at Alpha, Graeme enjoys running marathons and adding to his collection of really weird vinyl records.

  • Darren Watmough
    Director of Finance & Resource

    DARREN WATMOUGH

    Darren became the newest member of our Senior Leadership Team after joining us in 2023. Darren has previously worked as Finance Director for two other local housing associations as well as having held senior finance roles in other organisations in the housing, charitable and commercial sectors.

    Darren has also worked for the Regulator of Social Housing, helping to regulate housing associations. He is a qualified accountant and member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants and holds a Master of Science degree in Corporate Governance. As well as being Finance Director, Darren is our Company Secretary.

    When not working, Darren enjoys reading, cooking for friends, walking and growing food.

  • Leadership Team Peter Merity
    Director of Housing & Support

    PETER MERITY

    Peter joined the Alpha Living leadership team in December 2019. He has over 20 years’ experience working within the Social Housing sector both with general needs and specialist housing services for older people. His passion is to ensure all residents have the ability and services available to live as independently as possible for as long as possible.

    Peter is responsible for the delivery of Housing, Care and Support services to our 961 residents and is taking a lead role in developing Alpha Livings customer services offer as well as delivering services into our Independent Living neighbourhoods. He is also involved with the strategic and operational development of our flagship extra care and  development.

    Peter is Chair of a local housing charity specialising in providing accommodation for adults and care leavers with ASC. He loves nothing more than spending time away from work with his 2 young children and their French bulldog Jellybean.

  • Hq Asset Management Zoe Carmichael
    Head of Asset Management

    ZOE CARMICHAEL

    Zoe has recently joined Alpha as Head of Asset Management. She has 17 years of Housing experience, starting her journey as a call centre operator for Wirral Council dealing with repairs. She has worked across various teams including compliance, investment delivery, strategic management and also business planning. Her passion is all things environmental and she was very proud to win the Green Leadership award at the Women in Construction award in 2015 as recognition of the funding and initiatives she had sourced and implemented to protect residents against fuel poverty.

    She is a Governor at a local Infant School and also remains an active member of their PTA despite her daughter moving onto high school.

    Zoe loves living on the Wirral and enjoys walking her much loved border terrier Lottie on the beaches there. She is a book worm and likes nothing more than relaxing with a book (or five) on her caravan holidays on the Isle of Anglesey . She loves to sing and is an active member of Rock Choir, performing with the Merseyside division as they raise monies for various charities. They even performed for us at our AGM this year!
